Hotel is a
place where people spend the day on a journey
and enjoy their free time. There are a lot of
hotels in the world. Their standards are
different form each other and this is the most
important thing to make a distinction. Starts,
comfort and prices of hotels change in
disproportion. Hotels can be divided into three
groups; one star hotel – two star hotels, three
star hotels and four star hotels – five star
hotels.
One star and two star hotels
are simple. These establishments are generally
family run. These types of hotels should offer
clean and basic accommodation at a budget price
with few other services. Bedroom size can be
small and every rooms are equipped with a
closet, a washbasin with hot and cold running
water and soap. One and two star hotels have not
got swimming pool, sauna and television. These
kinds of hotels are not very comfortable so they
are the cheapest hotels.
Three star hotels are middle
– class. These types of hotels are more
comfortable than one star and two star hotels.
All rooms have an internal telephone,
full-length mirror, bedside lamps, central
heating, television and music set. What is more,
the hotel has a reception desk and all rooms
have a bath / shower and a toilet. Most of these
hotels seem modern; they have got well-decorated
public areas and bedrooms. The hotel with more
than two floors always has an elevator.
Breakfast is given in these hotels but lunch and
dinner are not given to customers in three star
hotels so customers have to go to a restaurant
or a buffet to eat something then. Two
advantages of preferring a three star hotel is
that the rooms of these hotels are cheap and
comfortable.
Four star and five star
hotels are luxurious. If you go these types of
hotels, you can have a wonderful holiday because
they are very comfortable and luxurious.
According to Yavuz İşbakan, there are two kinds
of luxurious hotel in Turkey. The first one,
they take their name of “Luxurious” from the
Municipality responsible. Their standards are
tolerant. The second one, they take the
certificate of Ministry of tourism. Municipality
councils control them. According to Yavuz
İşbakan “The municipality councils are conserved
in making price adjustments. Because of this
situation, the hotel either lose money or manage
to make price increases that will not be
detected by the authorities.” According to
Yavuz İşbakan “In 1964, six luxury hotels had
certificates of tourism issued by the Ministry
compared with 79 which did not.” The decoration
of both the rooms and the lounges are very
luxurious. According to Yavuz İşbakan, there are
four different special features between the
luxury and first class hotels. A parking place
is equal to 20% of the rooms, Bedrooms cover
14.5 meters area, The number of rooms must be
75, Air conditioning of the bed room is
required, Each room is equipped with armchairs
and a writing desk, television set. Room and
doctor service will be available for twenty-four
hours. Newspapers are available at the hotel and
the reception will provide a safe deposit box.
These types of hotels have many facilities for
customers. For example; four and five star
hotels have got swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna
and big restaurant. Breakfast and dinner are
given in these hotels also there is an a la
carte restaurant and gift shop. In addition,
they have got luggage, parking and taxi service.
They are very comfortable hotels but they are
very expensive. Rich people generally prefer
them.
To sum up, if the starts and
comfort increase, price increases too. There are
a lot of hotels in the world. Hotel
classification is subjective and standards can
vary greatly from country to country. Hotels can
be classifications into three groups; one star
hotel – two star hotels, three star hotels and
four star hotels – five star hotels. If you have
got a lot of money and love comfort, you should
go to four star hotels or five star hotels.
